Senator Seeks Trump Impeachment

U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff has expressed support for President Donald Trump’s impeachment, criticizing his plan to host a private dinner for the leading 220 holders of his TRUMP memecoin. During a town hall meeting, Ossoff stated that he saw Trump granting access to individuals who purchase his memecoin, which he considers an abuse of presidential power and an impeachable offense. He emphasized that selling access for direct payments to the President is a serious issue. Ossoff, a Democrat running for re-election in Georgia, indicated that impeachment is unlikely unless Democrats gain majority control of Congress in the 2026 midterm elections, as Trump’s Republican Party currently holds majorities in both chambers.

The TRUMP memecoin’s website announced that Trump would host an exclusive dinner at his Washington, D.C. golf club with the top 220 holders of the coin. The event was promoted through a leaderboard tracking top wallet holders, and registration required passing a background check and not being from a restricted country. The specific guest list remained undisclosed, and claims that participants needed a minimum of $300,000 in holdings were denied. Following the announcement, the value of the TRUMP token increased by over 50%. Experts have raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest, noting that Trump’s involvement in cryptocurrency ventures could pose risks to national security, especially since some of his policies may benefit his own financial interests.
